RE: Sunny California, Dark Money: Walker, Cruz, Huckabee Cozy Up To Kochs, ALEC
DATE: July 22nd, 2015

After last weekend’s Trumped-up circus in Iowa, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, and Ted Cruz are taking the Republican cattle call circuit behind closed doors in sunny San Diego, California.  Unfortunately for the middle class, this isn’t your ordinary speech-a-thon:  it’s the American Legislative Exchange Council, a Koch-powered bill mill where corporate interests meet policymakers in secret to find ways to warp the public interest in favor of bigger profits.

The Kochs have been involved in ALEC for “decades” and donated an “untold amount” of money along with chairing the board.  After years of building influence and padding their bottom line, ALEC is reaping the benefits of being part of the Koch primary and hosting Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, and Mike Huckabee this week as they seek to boost […]

NEW REPORT: Texas Anti-Choice Groups Focus Beyond Supreme Court, Determined to End Women’s Right to Choose

U.S. Supreme Court To Rule On Texas TRAP Law, But It’s Only One Part of Anti-Choice Groups’ Radical National Agenda
New Report Shows How Texas Anti-Choice Groups and Donors Are Determined to End a Woman’s Right to Choose Nationwide

Washington, DC—Today, the Bridge Project and NARAL Pro-Choice America released a new report, “It’s a TRAP! How Anti-Choice Groups Have Used Texas to Push a Radical National Agenda,” about how Texas Omnibus Abortion Bill, known as HB 2 was designed to ultimately eliminate women’s access to abortion procedures by placing strict restrictions on providers and medical clinics. Now Texas HB 2 awaits a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on whether the Texas law imposes unconstitutional restrictions on a woman’s right to choose.

“Doctors and medical professionals agree that Texas TRAP law restrictions are “unnecessary” and in fact, endanger women’s health and safety,” said Anne Shoup, National Director of Bridge Project. “HB 2 is only a […]

New Report: The KOCHstone State

How Koch Brothers Plotted to Takeover Pennsylvania, Benefitted From Budget Standoff

Read the report here:

As top state conservatives gather in Harrisburg today and tomorrow for the Pennsylvania Conservative Leadership Conference, many of the speakers and attendees are featured in the Bridge Project’s new report, “The Kochstone State: How the Koch Brothers’ Growing Influence Is Hurting Pennsylvanians.” The report lays out how the Kochs fostered and orchestrated the current political environment with their copious campaign donations and funding a network of radical political groups to drive their extreme, self-serving agenda.

From the Kochs’ aggressive in-state lobbying to get taxpayer-paid subsidies for Georgia Pacific, to pressuring state leaders to try to block oil and gas regulations, while they enable and supply fracking companies that contaminate Pennsylvania’s air, drinking water, and farmlands, the Koch machine has disrupted health services, threatened school closures, while casting the most vulnerable Pennsylvania residents into […]

NEW REPORT: The Koch Brothers’ Granite State Project

NEW REPORT: The Koch Brothers’ Granite State Project

How The Radical Agenda Of Out Of State Oil Billionaires Has Hurt New Hampshire

Charles and David Koch pour hundreds of millions of dollars into our political system to advance their self-enriching agenda and elect their puppet candidates. At the national, state, and local level, the Kochs use their unlimited resources to influence policy to suit their political and personal needs.

For decades, the Kochs and their network of dark money political front groups have been pushing the Koch agenda in New Hampshire — perhaps more than any other state in the country— which has benefitted billionaires like the Kochs at the expense of Granite Staters.

Today, Bridge Project is releasing a new report, The Koch Brothers’ Granite State Project: How The Radical Agenda Of Out Of State Oil Billionaires Has Hurt New Hampshire, which lays out the scope and […]

Karl Rove Just Tossed Rob Portman A Casual $1.12 Million

Senator Rob Portman is facing a tough reelection challenge, so Uncle Karl’s lending him a hand in the form of a $1.12-million ad buy.

Karl Rove’s One Nation just “bought $1.12 million worth of television, radio and digital ads advocating for jobs legislation sponsored” by Portman, according to Politico. The ads will run over the next several weeks in an attempt to give Portman a much-needed lift in the polls.

Not a bad haul for Portman: The $1.12-million assist significantly surpasses the $800K Rove dished out to both Roy Blunt and Joe Heck last week.

Apparently Karl Rove thinks Portman is just that much more vulnerable — Karl Rove can’t afford to lose a senator who so diligently prioritizes an out-of-state big money special-interest agenda over the needs of Ohio working families.

Background from Conservative Transparency:

One Nation is a nonprofit 501(c)4 addition to Karl Rove’s “constellation of Crossroads organizations.” The group “aims to advance well-constructed solutions to our country’s most […]

Joe Heck Gets A $800K Boost From Karl Rove

Rep. Joe Heck just got an $800,000 boost from his out-of-state, big money special interest puppet masters. The man behind it all? None other than Karl Rove, the 2012 election’s “biggest loser.”  Rove squandered hundreds of millions on middling candidates back then, and now he’s back from more.

According to the Reno Gazette-Journal’s Jon Ralston, one of Rove’s political organizations is set to give Joe Heck a big boost in the form of an $800,000 media blitz over the next several weeks. The group behind the buy is One Nation, a 501(c)4 dark money group connected to Karl Rove’s American Crossroads, a behemoth in political spending. One Nation’s already ramping up the spending elsewhere, too. The group just launched another $800,000 TV and radio buy in Missouri, looking to give vulnerable Senator Roy Blunt a similar boost.

There are 386 days until the election and out-of-state, big money donors are already throwing their […]

Karl Rove Drops $800k In Missouri To Prop Up Roy Blunt

With Roy Blunt’s approval numbers underwater by nearly 20 points, his special interest allies are sprinting into Missouri to try to save his campaign.

The Springfield News-Leader reports, “Sen. Roy Blunt’s campaign is getting a big-time boost from an influential Washington advocacy group, which plans to spend nearly $800,000 on a TV and radio ad blitz supporting the Missouri Republican….The group buying the pro-Blunt ads is called One Nation, and it’s part of a network of GOP organizations affiliated with American Crossroads, a super PAC founded with the help of Republican strategist Karl Rove. One Nation’s foray into Missouri — more than a year before the 2016 election — may be a sign that the Show-Me State Senate race is becoming more competitive.”

One Nation is part of Karl Rove’s “constellation of Crossroads organizations” and is specifically focused on saving vulnerable Republican senators in 2016. Already this year, this dark money group spent $2 […]

NEW REPORT: The Kochs’ Rocky Mountain High

David and Charles Koch are turning states across the country into their own political playgrounds, using their billions to influence policy to suit their business and personal needs, and Colorado, where they own an Aspen mansion, is one of the most prolific examples. Together with their network of dark money groups, the Koch brothers are fighting to impose policies that fit their agenda while hurting middle-class Colorado families.

Today, Bridge Project is releasing a new report titled, “The Kochs’ Rocky Mountain High,” a comprehensive look at the impact of the Kochs’ operations in Colorado.

The Kochs treat Colorado as a personal, political, and business playground, but the games they play challenge the ability of Coloradans to govern their own state, put at risk the livelihoods of the state’s residents, and jeopardize the natural beauty that defines Colorado.

The report delves into:

The Kochs’ private donor retreats in Aspen and Vail, where they discussed the “threat” of unions, climate regulations, […]
