Trump To Sign Pro-Wall Street, Anti-Consumer And Veteran Bill Behind Closed Doors

This afternoon – without press access and behind closed doors – Donald Trump will sign legislation dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rule against forced arbitration – a practice used by Wall Street banks, credit card companies, and predatory lenders to deny Americans their full legal rights when they are victims of fraud on the part of those companies.

American Bridge spokesperson Andrew Bates responded to Trump’s signing of the bill with the following statement:

“Donald Trump is selling-out middle class families, working Americans, and veterans by signing this dangerous legislation – a key Wall Street lobbying priority – which lets banks and credit card companies evade legal accountability after defrauding their customers. And he’s doing it behind closed doors, hoping that no one will notice. Giving large, financial sector companies the ability to deprive American consumers of fundamental legal rights using fine print is the exact opposite of ‘draining the swamp’ – and it’s […]

Sanders Questions: He Knew What He Signed Up For Edition

President Trump has reached a new depth of disgusting, petty, and unpatriotic behavior by reigniting a feud with Gold Star families. The words of Khizr Khan, the father of an American soldier killed in Iraq, to Trump are more true now than ever before: “You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

There is absolutely nothing White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders can say to make up for the pain the President has caused. But she can do the country a service by finally telling the truth, in the interest of transparency and decency, so that the public can hold this White House accountable. American Bridge Rapid Response Emily Aden calls on her to answer the following questions:

1. Why was President Trump so callous in his call to the grieving widow of Sgt. La David T. Johnson? Do you deny that the President did not even know the name of […]

Rubio Cozies Up To The Kochs’ VA Privatization Advocacy Group

Marco Rubio is releasing his plan to partially privatize veterans healthcare today at a West Des Moines town hall event put on by Concerned Veterans for America, Charles and David Kochs’ “veterans advocacy” front group. The event will be all about shoring up Rubio’s “pro-veteran” credentials, but the truth is the Kochs and CVA — leading advocates of privatizing the VA — don’t have veterans’ best interests at heart. Case in point: Almost two-thirds of veterans oppose VA privatization, but that isn’t stopping the billionaire brothers from passing it off as a pro-veteran plan supported by the individuals they claim to represent.

It’s the Kochs we’re talking about, so that should come as no surprise. As revealed in a Bridge Project and VoteVets.Org report, “The Vets Group That Fights Against Veterans,” CVA promotes extreme, right-wing polices that stand in opposition to nearly every other veterans group. From pushing a plan to privatize the VA health […]

Koch-Backed Concerned Veterans of America Launches Attacks Against Rep. Tim Walz

The shady group called Concerned Veterans of America is launching a six figure attack ad campaign against three Members of Congress including Representative Tim Walz (MN). But who is CVA and what do they stand for?

Enter Bridge Project and VoteVets.org, who have teamed up to expose the political agenda of Concerned Veterans of America with the recently released report titled, “The Vets Group That Fights Against Veterans.”

CVA promotes extreme right-wing policies that stand in opposition to nearly every other veterans group, as reported in the Military Times.

From pushing a plan to privatize the VA healthcare system to proposing a transition from the current military retirement system to a private 401(k)-like plan, CVA follows the radical conservatism of the Koch brothers, working to advance the billionaires’ self-interest at the expense of veterans.

Bridge Project will be working with partners to hold CVA and the Koch brothers accountable as they plan to spend millions propping up GOP candidates and trying to buy elections.

Already, Marco Rubio has participated in a CVA town hall in New Hampshire. Bridge Project will be working with partners to hold CVA and the Koch brothers accountable as Jeb Bush, Rubio, Scott Walker, and the rest of the Republican field audition for a slice of the $900 million the Kochs plan to spend propping up GOP candidates and trying to buy the White House.
