Editorial Roundup: Destroy North Korea Edition

This week editorial boards across the country again criticized Trump’s behavior and reckless foreign policy that was on full display during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly. Amidst yet another hurricane laying waste to Puerto Rico, another devastating earthquake in Mexico, and Senate Republicans reanimating Trumpcare to devastate Medicaid and strip coverage from 32 million Americans, Trump managed to march America closer to conflict with juvenile name calling, and editorial boards took him to task.
Here’s what editorial boards across the country had to say:

Tampa Bay Times: U.S. Needs Tax Reform, Not Tax Cuts For The Wealthy
President Donald Trump is in a big rush for Congress to approve big tax cuts, and he is using the damage left by Hurricane Irma to argue his case. One has nothing to do with the other, except for their negative impact on middle-class Floridians. The nation needs tax reform, […]

Editorial Roundup: Still the Worst Edition

Newspapers across the country slammed President Trump and his Administration’s continued incompetence this week, in editorials condemning Trump’s dishonest voter commission, his faux “tax reform” push that increasingly appears to be a giveaway for the rich at everyone else’s expense, his bungled response to natural disasters, and more.

Here’s a recap of what Americans read about Trump in their local newspapers this week:

Home News Tribune: Don’t Forget About Trump’s Tax Returns

Trump, of course, defied 40 years of presidential tradition by refusing to release his tax returns while campaigning. He concocted an explanation that he couldn’t be transparent because he was being audited, but it was apparent then and even more obvious now that the president never had any intention of offering that information to the public. He wants everyone to move on.

That means one thing: He’s hiding something. Not something illegal, necessarily, or even particularly unethical. But […]

Sanders Questions: Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Trump Edition

Republican Senators Graham, Cassidy, and Heller introduced their health care bill today that would reverse the gains made under the Affordable Care Act by taking health care from millions of people all to start a new system with lower quality care and higher costs. That’s a no-brainer for President Trump, right?

American Bridge Rapid Response Director Emily Aden calls on White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to answer the following questions:

1. Will President Trump apologize for his patently false remarks that “thousands” of people in New Jersey were celebrating after the attacks on September 11th?

2. Why did the Trump Organization hire a construction company owned by the Chinese government for work on a Dubai property when President Trump promised his company would not engage in foreign deals while he’s in office? Since we know he hasn’t fully divested from his businesses, did President Trump orchestrate this deal?

3. Why did the White House hide the fact that President Trump met with the new Russian ambassador on Friday and then also quietly issue a memorandum delegating authority over the Magnitsky Act, an issue of key importance to Vladimir Putin, to Treasury and the State Department? Was this a request from the new […]

Trump Is Making Millions Off Of His Pay-To-Play Golf Vacations

“This is just the latest proof that Trump is abusing the power of the presidency to make millions off of his time in office. Every time Trump goes golfing at one of his properties, he’s engaging in a corrupt pay-to-play scheme that allows CEOs and lobbyists to funnel millions of dollars into his pocket in exchange for access,” said American Bridge spokesperson Brad Bainum. “It’s all a scam, and the American people are getting screwed while the Trump family makes millions.”

USA Today: Trump gets millions from golf members. CEOs and lobbyists get access to president

By Brad Heath, Fredreka Schouten, Steve Reilly, Nick Penzenstadler, and Aamer Madhani, 9/6/17

Dozens of lobbyists, contractors and others who make their living influencing the government pay President Trump’s companies for membership in his private golf clubs, a status that can put them in close contact with the president, a USA TODAY investigation found.

Editorials Round Up: Relief for Texas Edition

Editorial boards from all over the country criticized President Trump this week for his unpresidential behavior amidst one of the worst natural disasters the United States has ever seen. As Houston braced for the Hurricane Harvey, the President pardoned the reprehensible Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and as thousands remained stranded in their homes waiting to be rescued, the President announced a “tax plan” only the ultra wealthy and billionaire CEOs could love.

Throw in a threat to shutdown the government over his border wall that Mexico will never pay for and a broken promise to Dreamers and you have another disastrous week for the Trump presidency. Here’s what Americans saw this week in their local newspapers:

Arizona Republic: Donald Trump Just Resurrected Joe Arpaio From Irrelevance
